Looking for a Zigbee Smoke Detector?
The Ecolink Zigbee Firefighter makes it simple to add smoke detection and carbon monoxide detection to your Zigbee system by installing next to an existing smoke detector and listening for the alarm sound to trigger your automation system. The Firefighter also works with Carbon Monoxide or CO detectors.
While there are a couple of Zigbee smoke detectors on the market, they are not approved for use in Canada, and trying to tie into 120V wiring of an existing detector requires an electrician and it's a hassle. This Zigbee Smoke Detector audio listening module solves these problems and it's fast and easy to install in a few minutes.
If your smoke detectors are interconnected so they all go off together as in most installations - you'd only need one Firefighter next to the closest smoke detector in the house. Alternately you can use one Firefighter per smoke detector.
The Firefighter can also listen for the alarm from wired or plug-in carbon monoxide detectors. If your CO detectors are plug-in style and/or not interconnected you'll want to use one Firefighter per CO detector.
