About the product
The Net2 plus is a networked access control system from Paxton. It offers central control, event reporting, and flexible control over user access. Each control unit is part of the network but can run independently.
This product is housed in a metal enclosure, which is included.
FLEXIBLE INSTALLATION
This control unit connects to the central admin PC using an RJ45 plug that plugs into a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network. This can allow for more flexible installations for areas that use LAN/WAN networks.
WORKS WITH OTHER UNITS
This unit also has an RS485 connection, meaning it can be connected to other Net2 plus or Net2 classic control units using a dedicated CATS cable.
To remove the need for an independent TCP/IP to RS485 converter, one Net2 plus control unit can act as a network interface to the LAN and run a wired RS485 daisy chain of other related Net2 units.
CONVENIENT POE
With the POE feature, both power and data can conveniently be transported through one ethernet cable. This unit simply plugs straight into the existing LAN using a standard RJ45 plug if it is powered by a compatible PoE switch or PoE injector.
INSTALLATION
The guide on the NET2 plus control unit shows the colour-coded connections for the reader, power supply etc. for simplified installation. This specific unit has a voltage-free relay, and exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switched, and alarm devices can be connected. The device also has diagnostic LEDs mounted close to their relevant terminals to create a hassle-free installation.
The control units communicate with the PC through a standard TCP/IP protocol of LAN, meaning the Net2 plus control unit should be given a fixed/static IP address. All configuration is down using the Net2 Configuration Utility.
The end of line resistors can also be switched into the circuit if required. Existing terminating resistors are not required.
OPERATION
If any changes are made at the PC, they will be communicated and stored at the control unit immediately. When a user presents their token to the reader, the control unit will identify them and will grant or deny access as appropriate.
